Alaska holds back-to-back AlasKabuhayan sessions in Mandaluyong and San Juan

To further its advocacy of being a community-minded company that actively helps strengthen the nation from the grassroots by providing sustainable and long-term livelihood programs, Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) conducted back-to-back sessions of AlasKabuhayan in Mandaluyong City and San Juan City last July 4, 2022.

Parish of the Lady of the Abandoned Multi-Purpose Cooperative (POLA COOP) partnered with AMC to train its member for efficient business strategic planning and financial management.

“Whether you are from Mandaluyong or not, you can be a bona fide member of our cooperative and avail our different financial assistance programs to expand or start your own businesses,” said POLA COOP Chairman Teresita De Leon

AMC also collaborated with the San Juan Skills and Livelihood Center for the afternoon session of the program. Around 30 small business owners and entrepreneurs participated in the San Juan leg.

“This type of venture is vital for wider employment and business opportunities. Let us thank Alaska for providing us with access to upskilling training and workshops like AlasKabuhayan,” said San Juan Skills and Livelihood Center Program Head Marie O’neal Mendoza-Arquero.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) representative Elma Viray reiterated the importance of business registration. “This will protect your business and make you eligible to be of service to our department’s financial aid, loans, business assistance, and other competitive benefits,” Viray added.

AMC Regulatory Affairs Manager Joan Sumpio’s nutritional talk highlighted the importance and the need for complete nutrition on every plate in line with the Food and Nutrition Research Institute’s (FNRI) “Pinggang Pinoy.”

Chef Kai Padilla, AMC’s resident chef, also had a live cooking demo using different Alaska milk products. Included on the menu were Chicken Ala King Empanada, Creamy Sherep Tortang Talong, Milky Ramen, and Milky Coffee Jelly, all interactively cooked by volunteers from the event.

These two sessions were spearheaded by AMC Regulatory Affairs Manager Anna Marie Villanueva and were hosted by Cecile Jacela.
