A Reliable Partner: Alaska Milk Ramps Up Partnerships with Local Government Units and DTI

Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) stands true to its commitment as partner of the government in nation-building by empowering micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) and promoting sustainability in the Philippines.

Tarang Gupta, AMC Managing Director, turned over 48,000 cans of evaporated and condensed milk to the City Government of Manila on 11 October 2021 to aid micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) and their food businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso accepted the donations on behalf of the MSMEs. Also present in the event were Manila Vice Mayor Maria Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna, Bureau of Permits Director Levi Facundo, and AMC Corporate Affairs Director Atty. Maria Angela Esquivel. This is part of AMC’s AlasKabuhayan Livelihood and Nutrition project done in various cities and municipalities nationwide. Aside from Manila City, AlasKabuhayan sessions have been carried out in the Cities of Makati, Marikina, Paranaque, San Jose del Monte, and the Provinces of Iloilo and Ilocos Norte.

Additionally, AMC partnered with two (2) local government units for the expansion of its AlasKalikasan Wrapper Redemption Program. The City Governments of San Pedro, Laguna and Tarlac joined AMC in its vision to help the environment and nourish Filipinos. In the program, every 3 kilograms of plastics collected by the cities will be redeemed  with 165 kilograms of powdered milk that will be given to different communities in both cities. Separate virtual Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing events were held  recently to seal both partnerships. The MOA signing with San Pedro City was attended by City Administrator Filemon Sibulo and Engr. Malou Balba of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) together with Mr. Gupta and Atty. Esquivel. The AlasKalikasan virtual signing  with Tarlac City was attended by Mayor Maria Cristina C. Angeles and City Legal Officer Atty. Joselito C. Castro. The program continues to grow and expand in different areas across the country to contribute in improving waste management and the nutrition of communities.

Moreover, AMC held a virtual meeting with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon M. Lopez, Undersecretary Ruth Castelo, and Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona on 4 October 2021 to discuss shared advocacies of empowering MSMEs and accelerating the digital skills of sari-sari stores as they play a key role in the development of the Philippine economy. AMC is proud to have committed to donate 1,000 livelihood kits to DTI and its MSME network for the rest of the year.

Through its AlasKaunlaran Community Centric Programs, Alaska sees to it that becoming a reliable partner of national and local government agencies fulfill its purpose of providing affordable nutrition and to nourish Filipino dreams.
