Alaska Milk named finalist in EuroCham Sustainability Awards 2023

Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC), a prominent dairy company in the Philippines and a subsidiary of Royal FrieslandCampina (RFC), has received recognition as one of the top three finalists in the category of Social Sustainability at the prestigious EuroCham Sustainability Awards 2023, which took place in Singapore on November 2.

Mr. Tarang Gupta, the Managing Director/CEO of AMC, expressed his enthusiasm for this achievement, stating, “This recognition validates Alaska Milk’s commitment to sustainability, as we remain responsive to the evolving needs of our planet.”

Sustainability has become an integral aspect of contemporary business operations, and AMC is leading the charge in implementing sustainable initiatives that make a positive impact on communities. As a leading dairy company in the Philippines, Alaska Milk acknowledges its responsibility not only to provide affordable and high-quality nutrition but also to contribute to the well-being of the environment and society as a whole.

“In alignment with our parent company, Royal FrieslandCampina’s climate plan, which aims to create a net-climate neutral dairy by 2050 while nourishing a better planet, we have been implementing various measures to reduce its ecological footprint,” Mr. Gupta emphasized.

AMC and RFC’s sustainability initiatives encompass investments in energy-efficient technologies, water consumption reduction, and robust waste management programs. These measures are aimed at minimizing the environmental impact of their operations and paving the way for a more sustainable and cleaner future.

Mr. Gupta also highlighted their dedication to a greener environment through the ‘AlasKalikasan’ Program, a part of their Corporate Purpose Responsibility (CPR) initiatives. “AlasKalikasan” cleverly combines “Alaska” and “Kalikasan” (Nature) to represent the program’s environmental commitment.

Under the AlasKalikasan Program, a range of strategies has been put in place, including the Wrapper Redemption Program, a partnership with D&G Pacific Corporation to establish a multi-layered upcycling facility in Rizal, collaboration with Plastic Credit Exchange, installation of solar panels on the roofs of AMC’s manufacturing plant in Laguna, partnership with Isla LPG Corporation for LPG usage in place of fossil fuels, and exploring local milk sourcing with the ultimate aim of reducing the company’s carbon footprint.
